Perceived problems with transmission shift lever, gear-position indicator lamps and backup lamps failing to illuminate has led to a national recall, according to several news agencies.
According to the information found in the news articles, over 10,000 units of Ford Expedition, F-150, Mustang and Navigator models of vehicles are being recalled by the carmakers Lincoln and Ford over fears certain mechanical issues could lead to accidents that would ultimately result in injuries.
The official recall announcement issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has revealed that the transmission may not go into “Reverse” at times or it may be shifted to reverse but the lamp in the gear-position indicator could fail to function properly and would rather indicate another gear position. This issue could leave the driver in a vulnerable position since the chosen gear might not be properly displayed.
At this moment, the company is notifying owners of these 2011 and 2012 model vehicles. All recalled cars are being repaired quickly and fully for free at authorized dealers.
